Screencast/Jing

This is a ScreenCast.  It was built from Jing.  Jing is a program that tasks a "screencast" (a video of what is on your screen).  This allows you to make videos on your computer and share with others.  It can help you with helping out others who are not as computer savvy than you might be.

This is one I made to disable start up programs on your computer.  In this screencast, I battled a start up a lot of my peers versed known as the SMARTBoard tool bar.  Check it out though!  It can help you speed up your start up speed on your computer.

Weebly

Weebly is a free way to create a website.  If you want it to be your own, you can put money into it, otherwise it will just be a ".weebly.com"

Wordle

Wordle is a quick and easy way to make colorful, unique "word clouds."  Essentially you paste in text, or a URL of your blog.  Based on the repetition of each word, the more used words will appear bigger than the other words.

Lino

Lino is a great website which allows you to create an online canvas which is easily edited by collaborators.  This website is very practical in group projects, giving a presentation and writing answers of the viewers in real time, and simply keeping a place online for sticky notes without the sticky part!  It's free, easy to sign in, and is very useful!  Check it out!

F.lux

F.lux (know as "Flux") Is a great tool for those who use computers in the early morning or the late nights.  It will change the intensity of your back-light automatically based on what time it is, and how dark it is outside.  very simply, just download it from their website here!

Aurasma

This is Aurasma.  Aurasma is a way to use technology to create a video presentation or photo and keep that documented file or video saved on a physical object that you took a picture of.  Kinda confusing explanation. A simpler way of describing it is allows you to "save" a photo/video to an object, and other viewers can "scan" the object in order to know more about it.  It's interesting...It can be very useful in a classroom because you can have an written object a student made (like a poem) and have them take a video of themselves reading it.  You can then take a mobile device (Apple iPad/iPhone) and "scan" it by using the app and placing your device on the poem, and the video with the student will come up of him/her reading it.  There can be many other things you can use it on, like setting out different objects (maybe for a science lesson) and allow students to "scan" them to gain access to knowledge about them, or a video of instruction about it.
It is a fun way to let students have technology, yet it can help with students giving presentations.  There are many other ways you could use it too (like setting different types of leaves, and having students guess what type of tree it is, and then scanning for the actual answer)

Popplet

Popplet is a graphic organizer which allows the teacher, or presenter, to create and share the project to the audience and allowing them to edit, comment, or view it through different interfaces (such as this).  It's easy to use, slick interface, and great for a teacher who wishes to present their lesson in a new form.  

The biggest quirk about it is that it uses the subscription-based method in order to gain funding.  For a free version (which I created this one)  it gives the person 5 free "popplets", or templates, to work with. I'd say that's still useful!  There's always the delete button!


This one is a Popplet I created for a simplified Taxonomy lesson.
